Shooting Accessories & Range Gear
Getting ready for the range requires more than grabbing your firearm and ammunition. Many new shooters don't know what they should bring with them to the range. Some make the mistake of bringing nothing but their firearm(s), and then must rent eye and ear protection, while paying a premium for targets and ammunition at the range. Others bring far too much gear, which they have to lug around at the range.
A range bag filled with the right gear can make your shooting experience much more valuable. It can be quite frustrating to waste your time and money waiting in line and then realize you left an important piece of gear home. To learn more about range bags and what options you have shop our wide selection of range bags.
Shooting Range Checklist
Galls has created a checklist of shooting range accessories and gear that is needed when you go to the range. These items are kept in their shooting range kits to make the most out of every trip to the range.
- Firearm and Ammunition- Make sure your firearm is unloaded, stored and kept separate from the ammunition.
- Eye and Ear Protection- Regular shooting practice over many years can damage to your hearing. Don’t cut corners, use the best hearing and eye protection you can afford. . Experts have recommended the Howard Leight Electronic Muff Hearing Protector to help protect your ears paired with the Kimberly Clark Nemisis Shooting Glasses for your eye protection.
- Holsters- If you’re practicing with your everyday concealed carry firearm, make sure you bring the holster you typically wear. If you are looking for a holster, Galls has around 400 different styles available. One of the top-rated and highly recommended duty holsters is the Blackhawk! Level III Sepra Auto Locking Holster.
- Extra Batteries- Carry extra batteries for your ear protection and other battery-operated accessories.
- First Aid Kit- Always have a small first aid kit with you so you can be prepared if any accidents were to happen. Depending on your location, you may want additional first aid supplies.
- Targets- Bringing your own targets to the range can save you money as well as add silhouette variety in your targets.
- Flashlight- A tactical flashlight can come in handy if you need to make fine adjustments or repairs to your weapon while you are at the range.
- Notebook and Pen- Carrying a notebook and pen can help you keep notes about your shooting experience
Additional Gear
There are many additional items of shooting range equipment to consider bringing to the range with you such as: cleaning equipment, unloading stations, magazines, weapon stocks, lockers and safes, scopes and optics, rifle slings, rifle cases and other weapon accessories.
