OWB Holsters

The OWB, which stands for “Outside the Waistband”, is a common open carry holster that sits on the outside of your pants. It allows for quick, unobtrusive access to your firearm and oftentimes provides more comfort than its IWB (Inside the Waistband) counterpart. It can also be used as a concealed carry alternative when wearing a jacket or loose shirt. Just be wary that the garment may need to be a bit bulkier to avoid giving away the profile of your firearm.

There are multiple styles of the OWB holster that offer different attachment options. The style you choose will depend on your preferred carry method and what feels most comfortable to you. For options that attach to the belt, the pancake holster and belt slide holster are the most common styles. There’s also the paddle holster which utilizes a paddle backing that slides into the inside of your waistband while the holster itself overlaps the outside.
